Aluminium (with the same Latin name) is a chemical element in the periodic table that bears the symbol Al and the atomic number 13. It is a metal. It is extracted from bauxite by means of electrolysis, also known as refinement. Aluminium is used as a lightweight constituent material, for alloys, as a pure metal in the chemical industry, as well as for electrical conductors, as a deoxidizing material for steel, and for foils.
Aluminium is divided into several subgroups:
- Wire – pure or with iron insert
- Metal sheets – pure, unalloyed, mixed, non-ferrous, shredder
- Hard aluminium – pure, with iron
- Profiles – pure, non-ferrous, mixed
- Alloy wheels
- Shavings
- Slag
